Recon Overpowered? Thoughts?
I get it, if you get shot in the head by a sniper you should probably be dead, but I have been one shot killed for 169 points in the elbow, really the elbow???
So I thought the sniper rifles were tough, then I have noticed a wave of recons with smg's. What is the fire rate on those things? Most of the time I hear one shot them I'm dead, the hit chart comes up and it shows I got shot like 8 times. I know they are short range but I can't count the number of times I hear the "one" shot as the recon becomes visable. Thats a crazy tough combination. Probably just frustrated, anyone else experience this?
I play a specialist with LMG, if anyone has been getting dominated by them, let me know, so I can try some new tactics

Fox once you get some time under your belt you'll come to find that Recon's are the least powerful of all the classes.
It may seem like it because they use the map against you, they know it better, they have cloak and can jump out of cover and pounce on you like a fat kid on a cupcake, but once you start gear'n up you'll pull ahead.
My assault who only has the MKIII titan armor gets ambushed by a Recon with a SMG, i can turn and shoot back before they finish me off. Sometime I kill them sometimes they kill me. But Recon's versus lvl 30 assaults and specialists get mowed over most of the time.
Good players make the difference of course, but all things being equal between skill: Recon's are hurting right now.
What you are describing as respect to the damage on the elbow thing is all critical chance and someone who has leveled up their sniper's critical hit chance to 30% ish. I have been hit for 196 points in the leg before, so... yea. You can level up the critical on any weapon, and it seems as if the snipers' is more noticeable, but no I don't think that part is OP.
I do have some complaints about the sniper class though, but as a whole I think they aren't too bad to the point of needing a nerf.
One of which complaints is that they have the best abilities - squad and device - and those abilities tend to make them selfish. If played right, they are a completely viable class that can help the team immensely, but that doesn't seem to happen alot. So...
Oracle isn't a self-gain ability for the sniper in most ways, as it does point out enemies for the rest of the team. But, what I have found is that most snipers just use oracle when it is a benefit to THEM and when THEY need it. Hypothetical example: Sniper Timmy is having a ton of fun playing the recon class! He's found that when he gets in his sniper perch and he uses the device "Oracle", he can see where other people are. So, one day when he was playing on his favorite map, Chertanovo, and his team lost control of C, he was overjoyed! That then allowed Sniper Timmy to get into his perch defending point B and use his Oracle ability to see everyone approaching so he can pick them off. He is getting so many kills! Though, since he did not use it while that group of enemies were rushing their flank on point C earlier, his team lost the game since it is very difficult to retake C on Chertanovo. But the good news is that he saved it for when he was on point B, and he got lots of kills, MVP, and best sniper! Overall, Timmy had a ton of fun that game!
You may argue that using oracle in that instance is helping the team, but wouldn't it be more helpful if he used it earlier when people other than himself needed it? Right.
Now on to cloak: Timmy is back again, and today he's playing with his favorite ability cloak! Cloaker Timmy loves to cloak up behind his enemies' lines and kill them from behind so he just racks up the points! He likes to save it for big moments like when his team lost an objective, and the entire enemy team is rushing up to the next one. Cloaker Timmy then cloaks behind all of them and kills them from behind with his trusty, high rate of fire SMG. He gets so many points and eliminates a good portion of his enemies' team, but after that he either dies in combat and/or doesn't warn the rest of his team that it is safe to move up so they can recapture the point. Too bad he didn't use it before the enemy captured his teams' point, because then his team might have been able to take it for the win.
Again, you may argue that clearing the enemy team from behind is great, and it is. But what's a better strategy? Actionary, or reactionary if you get my jist? Also if they don't do this sort of thing, they tend to just cloak and kill someone so they can get the kill, not so they can help the team push forward.
These examples may not apply to all snipers, this kind of selfishness is just what I have found in some or most of them. Also, neither of the abilities are laid out for the average (usually nooby and non-helpful to the team) player so that they can directly help the team move up, but that doesn't mean they can't indirectly use them to help their team to capture an objective.
Now onto Vector Detector (lolrhyme): Yea... doesn't need much of an explanation. It's just fucking amazing and no other class has an equivalent.
Overall, my opinion of snipers are pretty spiteful and I do make a lot of generalizations. Though, those all don't apply to every sniper-guy out there, as I know plenty of helpful snipers who I actually enjoy playing with. It's just that most of the recons I run into (that usually fill up half of the fuckin' lobby... I mean CMON GUYS it seems like everybody plays recon!) are like this and only look out for themselves. I'm not suggesting a fix by any of this, but rather I ask that recons make more intelligent and thoughtful decisions while they are playing is all. And no, none of you flaming me after this are going to change my opinion. It is my opinion, and I will stand by it until I see improvement. My 2 cents.
Actually Im almost lvl 20 so I have been playing for a little bit. Essentially my biggest problem is the 169 points to the elbow.

The class is deadly in the right hands... it's not op
ROFL, that was awesome, thx for the best laugh of the day so far

It could be done though, put a max hit to the arm of 37 and a crit of 64 and so on and so forth depending on the part of body and how critical it could be. The fact is though this isnt going to happen because of cover angles in the game and everyone should have a fair shot at a kill, not just when there out of cover but just there elbow, i.e. elbow glitchers, just saying.

According to my data that's not true. Snipers get a bit less kills-per-minute than other guns but that's the nature of sniping. Recons with SMGs, on the other hand, are the deadliest players in the game. Admittedly it's not by a huge margin (it was huge before the Crit nerfs of 8.1, but that brought all automatic weapon users into the same ballpark of lethality).
